Working with Less Water for Corn Production
نویسندگان
چکیده
Research was conducted at Colby and Tribune, KS, from 2018–2020 to evaluate irrigation strategies, hybrid maturity, seeding rate on corn production. Irrigation strategies were a combination of frequency/timing (weekly or bi-weekly) applied pre- post-silking, amounts (1 1.5 inch/week). Hybrid maturities 108- 111-day hybrids planted 25,000 30,000 seeds/a. Average ranged 7.33 12.50 in. 8.41 13.44 Tribune. At Colby, average yields not affected by but 8 bu/a greater with the 108-day hybrid. weekly post-silking higher maturity. The water limitations in this study are relatively severe these results might replicate under less stressful regimes.

Effective and efficient irrigation practices are critical to successful rice production and to the sustainability of rice production. To better understand how to address the issue of water management in rice we initially installed water flow meters on two studies that were designed to evaluate disease incidence using fertility, variety/hybrid, and water management as treatment variables. One st...
